Gravity Miner is the prototype that I made for our sophomore project at Digipen Institute of Technology. It was made in one month. It is a 2D side scrolling platformer that has a simple weight mechanic. Picking up green ore makes the player heavier while picking up red ore makes the player lighter. Get light enough and gravity will flip all together. Through play testing I found that player’s had a hard time understanding if gravity would flip or if they would just get lighter or heavier. In the final version of the game, A Flipping Good Time, the light/heavy mechanic was pulled out into its own set of items as a result of the play testing.
